Let's Make a Difference

Let's start a conversation together today! We may be a small group now but we have the opportunity to get more and more people involved with a conversation about mental health. Aspire to inspire every day!

My best friend Jessica is the one of the strongest people I’ve ever met. She’s has always faced adversity with a smile on her face and the faith that everything was going to be okay. She’s been through more in twenty-one years than anyone deserves but somehow, she is always the one who gave me hope that’s everything was going to work out in the end.

On Tuesday, my friend Jessica read my my previous article “Post Grad Pressure” and was inspired to share her own story. Why am I sharing this with you? Because it provides a little proof that my last post has some truth to it. I did something that scared me. I posted something personal on the internet with the hopes that it may inspire someone in the world to share their story. By no means did I ever think I’d have the privilege and the luck to know that it actually did inspire someone. And even better it inspired someone I love. I could not have asked for a better outcome and I am truly blessed.

Jessica posted a video to her YouTube channel Jessica Shaye sharing her personal experience with depression. She has the ability to make any viewer feel like they are just listening to their best friend. I think that this video and her future videos will help any and every person that has the pleasure of viewing them.

Take a look for yourself!

I believe that even if your experience with depression is vastly different than Jessica’s it can still help to just listen. When I listen to someone else’s story it allows me to see the teeniest, tiniest similarities between theirs and my own. This realization allows me to experience a sense of community and allows me to feel even the smallest bit of normalcy during such an isolating time.

One of the hardest parts of depression is isolation, the feeling that no one else in the world could understand what you’re going through. But if we can create a platform to discuss taboo subjects like depression and mental health maybe we can pull some people out of isolation. If you don’t feel comfortable talking about these issues on a social platform talk to someone in your life; your friends, siblings, parents, a teacher anyone you feel comfortable opening up to. You may be surprised to discover who around you are also struggling with similar issues. So let’s make a difference together!

If you're reading this post and you would like to help make a difference then please comment below something you do when you're feeling down to turn your mood around! Maybe your comment could change someone's life... you never know!

I’ll stop rambling now but I ask you all please show Jessica the same amazing support you showed me and take a few minutes to watch her video.

xoxo
