Spontaneity

I’ve previously mentioned my dislike of change and not having control. Disliking these things has affected my life in many ways. I’ve missed out on a lot of experiences and opportunities in life due to these fears. Lately, I have been trying my best to push myself to do the things that scare me the most. While I like to consider myself a fun person, I hardly ever do anything spontaneous. If it wasn’t planned ahead of time I tend to prefer to sit on my couch and mindlessly watch tv (another bad habit I am trying to kick).

Last Wednesday my brother came home from work and suggested he and my mom go to the College Football Hall of Fame for the SEC Media Days. I was immediately jealous, especially since I hadn’t been to the College Football Hall of Fame yet. My initial reaction was to quickly say I couldn’t go with them because I had to work that day. As I mentioned before if it isn’t planned ahead of time, I have a bad habit of making excuses not to do that thing… even if I really want to! When my brother asked us to go it was only noon and I didn’t work until 4pm that day. If you do the math I had more than enough time to go to the SEC Media Days, lunch, and make it to work on time.

So, I made the decision to go to the Hall of Fame with my mom and brother. I am immensely happy that I made the decision to attend. It turned out to be some of the most fun I’ve had this summer. Once you hit a certain age it is not too often that you get to have goofy fun with your family in public. It was nice to just run around the building and be care free for a few hours and not worry about judgement.

We also got to see Deebo Samuel and Jake Bentley, two of the University of South Carolina’s football players! The players walked right passed us, high fiving fans and signing autographs. The College Football Hall of Fame itself exceeded all of my expectations. The museum includes more than a handful of interactive activities, such as, karaoke, virtual reality simulators, and more.

Overall, I am trying to learn to be a more spontaneous individual. It would be a shame for anyone to miss out on day like the one I got to experience with my mom and brother.

I decided to do another thing that scares me and post a youtube video vlogging my experience at the SEC Media Days. I would love if you could check it out!!
